About Canada

Canada, the second largest country in the world by area, is located in the continent of North America occupying nearly two-fifths of the continent. Divided into ten provinces and three territories, Canada shares the longest bi-national border in the world with the United States. Education in Canada is mostly provided publicly, funded and regulated by federal, provincial and local government levels. It is within the jurisdiction of each province. Applying under SDS (Student Direst Stream) or Non-SDS Category

There are two categories of applications that can be submitted to the Canadian High Commission. The category under which you are eligible to apply depends on your band score and the type of English language proficiency test you have undertaken. Consider the following:

  1. If you have appeared for IELTS exam and you have a score of 6 each in all four modules, only then you are eligible to apply under SDS category.
  2. If you have appeared for IELTS and have a score of 5.5 in at least one of the modules, you are eligible to apply under Non-SDS category or General category.
  3. If you have appeared for an English language exam other than IELTS, such as PTE or TOEFL, you are eligible to apply under Non-SDS category.
