GERMANY STUDY VISA PROCESS
International students who have decided to study in Germany have to go through the following process, commencing from selecting the right course to getting their study permit
- Find the Appropriate Study Programme
- Comply With the Admission Requirements Of the Chosen University
- Your qualification must be recognised by the university.
- Some universities require you to appear for an aptitude test known as TestAS, which has been specifically designed for students applying from non-EU countries.
- Some universities also demand some language proficiency requirements. If the medium of instruction of the programme chosen by you is the language Dutch, then you have to appear for TestDAF Conversely, if the medium of instruction of the programme chosen by you is English, you have to appear for either IELTS or TOEFL exam.

The first thing you need to do once you have decided to study in Germany is look for an appropriate course that is related to your previous education. Once you have firmly decided the particular programme and the university in which you want to study, the next step along the way is to find out the admission requirements of that particular university and fulfilling those requirements. In order to study in Germany, you need to give sufficient proof of your financial status. Apart from the university fee, you need to prove that you have enough funds to support yourself during your stay in Germany. For this, you need to open a blocked account worth 10,356 Euro.
Every student from a non-EU country who wants to immigrate to Germany for higher study will need to get a healthcare insurance. You have to obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
Once you have collected and organised all the necessary documents to study in Germany, you need to apply for an appointment for the visa interview at your nearest German Embassy or Consulate. Try to book the appointment for visa interview a few weeks in advance as the slots are usually heavily booked.
Once you get your appointment scheduled, you should be prepared for the interview. By this time you should have paid the visa application fee that can vary between 60-75 Euros. This is important as you must have the confirmation of payment at the time of your interview.
Once you are done with the interview, you then need to wait for the final result of your application.
